Representative Mike Garcia recently held a Veterans Town Hall at the Antelope Valley Community Resource Center in Lancaster, California. The event brought together veterans, advocates, and local leaders to discuss pressing issues affecting veterans in the CA-27 district. Jon Clark, Staff Director for the House Veterans Affairs Committee, joined Rep. Garcia as they provided updates on legislative achievements and resources for veterans.
“Our veterans deserve more than just promises—they deserve results,” said Rep. Garcia. “These men and women put it all on the line for our country. Now, it’s our job to ensure they get the care and respect they’ve earned.”
A key topic was H.R.9468, the Veterans Benefits Continuity and Accountability Supplemental Appropriations Act. Introduced by Rep. Garcia and now law, this legislation addresses a $2.883 billion gap in VA funding to secure uninterrupted benefits for over seven million veterans. It also requires regular reports from the VA on budget corrections and spending transparency.
Rep. Garcia announced plans for a new VA clinic in Antelope Valley set to open in 2025. The facility will offer essential healthcare services like primary care and mental health closer to home for local veterans.
“The new clinic is a major win for veterans in the Antelope Valley,” said Rep. Garcia.
Additionally, Rep. Garcia noted his office’s success in closing over 600 veteran cases involving benefit claims and federal agency navigation.
