Today, on Veterans Day, the nation takes a moment to honor those who have served in the military. Representative Mike Garcia, a former Navy fighter pilot, reflects on the significance of this day and the ongoing challenges faced by veterans.

Garcia acknowledges the sacrifices made by service members throughout history, from World War II to present-day conflicts. He emphasizes that many veterans continue to face difficulties after their service ends. “Veterans Day also reminds us that the transition back to civilian life can be tough,” Garcia states. He notes that veterans often encounter obstacles when seeking care and benefits.

Since assuming office, Garcia has focused on assisting veterans. His team has resolved over 600 veteran casework files to ensure they receive their entitled benefits. However, he stresses that systemic accountability is crucial for comprehensive support. “That’s why I’ve championed legislation like the Veterans Benefits Continuity and Accountability Act,” he explains. This act aims to protect benefits for millions of veterans and enhance oversight within the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Garcia expresses gratitude not only towards veterans but also their families. “Your resilience and love are just as vital to this nation’s defense,” he remarks.

In conclusion, Garcia reaffirms his commitment to advocating for veterans in Congress. “Your courage, your dedication, and your sacrifice have kept America strong,” he says.
