Senator Suzette Valladares, a member of the California State Senate, posted several messages on her social media account in early April 2026 addressing both religious observances and state economic issues.
On April 3, Valladares marked Good Friday by stating, “Today, we reflect on the meaning of sacrifice and the promise of hope that follows. Wishing you a blessed and peaceful Good Friday. “
The following day, she commented on rising gas prices in California, referencing an investigation by CBS Sacramento. On April 4, she wrote: “For years, Sacramento blamed oil companies. Now even a @CBSSacramento investigation says: no evidence of price gouging. So what’s driving $6 gas? Policies. Taxes. Regulations. Lost refinery capacity. And real families are paying the price— $1,500–$2,500 a year EXTRA just to”.
On Easter Sunday, April 5, Valladares shared another message focused on faith: “On this Easter Sunday, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope and new life it brings. Even in the darkest moments, we are reminded that hope rises and new beginnings are always possible. ‘He is not here; He has risen.’ — Luke 24:6 Wishing you and your family”.
Valladares’ remarks about gas prices reference ongoing debates in California regarding fuel costs and government policy impacts. Over recent years, high gasoline prices have been attributed by some officials to factors such as taxes and regulatory measures rather than direct corporate malfeasance or price manipulation.
Her posts also coincide with major Christian holidays observed globally—Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ while Easter celebrates his resurrection—events that hold significant cultural importance for many communities in California.
