City of Lancaster issued the following announcement on Oct. 14
The City of Lancaster recently debuted Lancaster Connect, an online hub of community services specific to Lancaster residents. Funded by a grant from the Los Angeles County Innovation Fund and initiated by the City’s Homeless Impact Commission, the newly launched website is designed to connect residents to local resources such as legal assistance, shelter, education, and more. Organizations which offer such community, health, or human services in Lancaster are invited to sign up at www.lancasterconnect.com to have their resources featured free of charge.
“There are many outstanding organizations in the Lancaster community that work tirelessly to provide services and resources to local residents,” said City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We believe that Lancaster Connect will make it easier for our residents to access the local resources offered and get connected with the services they need.”
The City developed Lancaster Connect in response to residents’ need of a resource with local community services and information all in one place. While similar resources exist, they primarily serve the Los Angeles metro area, Lancaster Connect will ease the frustration of residents searching for services that are easily accessible and close to home. Lancaster’s Homeless Impact Commission recognized the need as a crucial service for the community’s most vulnerable residents and included the development of the local informational hub as a goal in the City’s Homelessness Plan.
Website visitors can browse the local services by a number of categories. The categories range from housing and health care to veterans’ services and career development. The site currently features more than 70 providers and the website’s listings are expected to grow as more service providers learn of the program.
The website framework is managed by the City, but service providers may create and edit their own pages. Lancaster service providers are invited to sign up by visiting the site, registering for a free account, and submitting a brief online ‘Become a Provider’ application.
Local providers are also encouraged to utilize the site to discover and reach out to one another, with the goal of increasing their combined impact in the community through partnerships.
