On May 18, Representative Mike Garcia (CA-27) issued the following statement after he voted for legislation during National Police Week to support law enforcement officers:

“This week, I voted for H. Con. Res. 40, a resolution expressing support for local law enforcement officers and condemning efforts to defund or dismantle law enforcement agencies. While we will never be able to fully repay them, our nation is indebted to our heroic law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. I will always Back the Blue,” said Garcia. “I also voted for the POLICE Act, legislation that would make the assault of a law enforcement officer by an illegal immigrant a deportable offense. Biden’s support for the defund the police movement and his failure to secure the border have made police officers’ jobs far more dangerous and difficult. We must ensure they have necessary protections so they are able to do their jobs safely and effectively.”
