City of Palmdale issued the following announcement on Nov. 10
In an effort to assist local businesses and encourage our residents to shop local and support our community, the City is launching a shop local program campaign, #ShopPalmdale. Promoting a shop local program keeps more money in the community as well as supports job growth. Purchasing local helps grow other businesses as well as the local tax base. Initially, this program will launch for the upcoming holiday season coinciding with nationally known events: Small Business Saturday and Shop Local Week.

November 28 to December 23 Shop local retailers gift card program
November 28th kicks off the shop local retailers gift card program with a contest giving shoppers an opportunity to win a $100 gift card by posting photos of themselves shopping at their favorite Palmdale business on social media with the hashtag #ShopPalmdale. A winner will be randomly selected each week and awarded a $100 gift card. This contest will run November 28 to December 23, 2020. Please be sure to use the hashtag #ShopPalmdale to be entered into the contest. Winners will be contacted through the social media platform used to post their photos.
November 28 Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is an American shopping holiday held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. All Palmdale residents are encouraged to Shop Small this day. You might not realize it, but every time you shop at that neighborhood business or buy a gift from the local artist down the street, you are shopping small and making a difference. In fact, for every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S., approximately 67 cents stays in the local community. When you Shop Small on Small Business Saturday—and all year long — you can help create a big impact.
November 30 to December 6 Shop Local Week
There is no better time than now to shop local and eat local. The City acknowledges the incredible challenges faced by businesses, both big and small, throughout our community and encourages residents to shop and eat local. Every local business and restaurant relies on all of us in order to continue operating, and we need to keep our community thriving and boost our local economy.
