Rep. Mike Garcia recently hosted a Service Academy Night at the College of the Canyons University Center in Santa Clarita, California. The event attracted over 200 students and family members eager to learn about the nomination process for U.S. military service academies.
The evening featured presentations from representatives of various academies, including the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy. These sessions provided attendees with insights into what it takes to succeed at these institutions.
"It’s incredible to see so many young people from CA-27 who want to step up and serve," stated Rep. Garcia. "I’ve been in their shoes. The process is tough, but that’s what makes it worth it. These students are already showing they’ve got the grit and determination it takes, and that’ll pay off when they get the honor of wearing the uniform and serving our nation."
During the event, Rep. Garcia honored Thomas Dierkman for his long-standing leadership in the service academy nomination program within the congressional office. Dierkman received a Congressional Record entry, a U.S. flag flown over the Capitol, and a challenge coin as tokens of appreciation for his dedication.
